History
The
client, a retail clothing giant, was facing difficulty in
coordinating their day to day operation,
customer and rewards lookup from their POS
system and various reporting needs. This is due to the fact that
the Data Warehouse running Oracle database and
Universe database was working in a batch mode and no integration
across its diverse portfolio of data.
Typically, all the POS data was collected
overnight and applied to the data warehouse in
a nightly batch mode.
Requirement
The
retail company embarked on integrating this
task in real-time and chose IBM InfoSphere
Information Server DataStage and Information
Services Director to perform real-time
integration web service.

clothing giant undertook the process of
upgrading their current POS and data warehouse
On-Line Customer environment with real-time
integration so that the POS system are made
available with immediate response from their
backend data warehouse system with real-time
updates.
